Terroirs of the Barossa Marananga Shiraz
Wine
Château Tanunda Terroirs of the Barossa Marananga Shiraz is one of a series that showcases the combined effects of site, soil and climate – known as terroir – on the vine and its fruit.
The Barossa Marananga Shiraz is sourced from soils of red brown loam clay flecked with schists and siltstone, at Marananga in the Barossa Valley's north-west.
The fruit is wild fermented and basket pressed. The basket press, imported from France, is the Rolls Royce of basket pressing, it ensures the grapes express the unique character of their place of origin.
Moved to barrel for malolactic fermentation the wine is aged in a combination of French and American oak for 18 months.
Deep purple, Château Tanunda Terroirs of the Barossa Marananga Shiraz is full bodied with intense fruit flavours laden with spice and oak. Cellaring potential is 15 years.
